Diploma Programme
Assessment
IB issued DP grades are released in January, following the November DP examinations. In all DP subjects grades are based on two types of assessments: internal assessments and external assessments. The chart below summarizes the internal assessments for each subject regularly offered at Gyoshu. Internal assessments are assigned and marked by the subject teacher. The IB moderates the teacher’s marking to ensure that appropriate grades are being awarded.Subject | Internal Assessment Tasks | Subject | Internal Assessment Tasks |

The CAS coordinator assesses CAS internally and the DP coordinator notifies IB Singapore of those candidates who have not successfully met CAS learner outcomes. IB Singapore periodically asks for samples of student documentation demonstrating that learning outcomes have been achieved in order to monitor the coordinator’s CAS assessment. Extended Essays are assessed by IB markers.

The Gyoshu Grade
DP Students at Gyoshu are assessed on an ongoing basis and receive a Gyoshu grade for each term. Assessment details vary between subjects, but in all cases they involve criteria-based marking. In all DP group subjects Gyoshu grades are based on three types of assessments: 1) examinations; 2) performance tasks such as investigation, oral tests, and essays; and 3) effort.
